Authenticity

The National Debt Redemption Movement collection is kept by individuals, state institutions, and civilian institutions. The materials are maintained in their original form.

In particular, the prospectus of each region and the records of donors and the amounts they donated were placed directly in the newspapers of the time, which validates the authenticity of the records.

The press contributed actively to the national spread of the Movement by invoking sympathy through its detailed coverage. By reporting the heartrending stories and touching incidents that occurred in each town, the press urged people to participate. At the same time, because their coverage of the problems that occurred were made without any adjustments, they include highly detailed accounts.

In addition to being the only records in world history on the repayment of a foreign loan that centers on people, they are also highly valuable as records of uncensored press reporting during a time of interference and suppression by the Japanese.
